If the American people seem increasingly disgusted with both major political parties, that’s due at least in part to the tendency of each of the two sides to look backward rather than forward.
The Democrats have become utterly obsessed with the so-called “Russian Connection,” trying to expose alleged collusion between the Trump team and the Putin regime in a desperate and distracting effort to discredit President Trump’s victory. Meanwhile, the president and his aides have tried to change the subject by attacking Barack Obama for allegedly ordering election season wire-tapping, even slamming the former-president, in one early-morning tweet, as a “sick and bad guy.”
The public deserves a more constructive focus from both parties on jobs, economic growth, national security, tax reform, crime and terrorism. That sort of focus will help President Trump to build broad support by emphasizing a brighter future, rather than joining Democrats in pointless, partisan rehashing of the recent past.
